Let’s Go Fly a Kite Day

The Patrick Henry National Memorial invites you to join them on the beautiful grounds of Patrick Henry's Red Hill, in the windy month of March, to fly a kite. Spend the day at Red Hill; bring a blanket, a picnic lunch and a kite or purchase one at the Visitor Center. Kite flying begins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until 3:00 p.m. Admission to the grounds to fly a kite is complimentary, but regular admission prices apply for the walking tour and museum - $6 adult; $5 senior; $4 AAA and Military; $2 student; no charge for children 4 and under.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Patrick Henry National Memorial invites you and your children to join them on the beautiful grounds of Patrick Henry's Red Hill to participate in the annual Easter egg hunt. This event is for the entire community. Children ages 0-12 years can search for eggs and collect lots of goodies. Bring your camera so you can take pictures. The Easter story will be told every 30 minutes by members of several local churches. This event is free of charge. For more information please call us at 434-376-2044.

Naturalization Ceremony
The Patrick Henry National Memorial invites you to attend its seventh annual Naturalization Ceremony at Red Hill on May 11. This is the final step in the process of becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen. Wonder if you could pass the test for U.S. citizenship? Just click here to see if you could! Buildings are open for visitors and events begin with living history demonstrations at 10 a.m., ceremony at 11a.m., and reception following. The public is invited to attend and Red Hill is open to the public free of charge. Seating is limited, so plan to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m.

Come out to Red Hill and help the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation celebrate Patrick Henry's 276th birthday with us. Normal admission rates apply, but everyone will receive a complimentary piece of birthday cake!

Fourth of July Celebration

Enjoy fireworks, live music, Patrick Henry delivering his celebrated speech, 18th century interpretations (many are hands-on!), tours, kids' games, arts & crafts vendors and more! Events begin at 3:00 p.m. with fireworks at dusk. The gate closes at 9:00 p.m.

2012 Brookneal Wine Fest at Red Hill

Presented by the Brookneal Chamber of Commerce, it’s our third annual wine festival on the beautiful grounds of Red Hill overlooking the Staunton River. Join us and see why Patrick Henry called Red Hill “…the garden spot of Virginia.” The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Advance tickets are just $15; $20 at the gate. Living History Days for Homeschool Students 

Join us for our Annual Days of Living History for Homeschooled Students. This program of living education is geared for children ages 8 to 10 years old, although children younger and older may join in and benefit from the hands-on experience of 18th century life. If you plan on participating, please call 434-376-2044 or send an email request to register you, your child(ren), and/or your homeschool group. Space is limited – you must receive confirmation in order to participate – so we encourage you to register today.

Second Annual Bluegrass, Barbecue & Brew Festival


Join us Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for our Bluegrass, Barbeque & Brew Festival. Stroll the beautiful grounds of Red Hill while enjoying the live music. Delicious local barbecue will be available from local restaurants! Shop with local artisans and enjoy craft beer and ale. Self-guided tours of Patrick Henry’s home, law office and other historical buildings will be offered throughout the day and is included in your ticket! Also guest are encouraged to bring a personal lawn chair or blanket for seating to watch the bands!

Christmas Open House

The annual Christmas Open House at Red Hill will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Patrick Henry Auxiliary sponsors this event and cordially invites the public to attend; admission is complimentary.


Guests will be treated to docent-guided tours of the historic buildings at Red Hill, including Patrick Henry’s house, Law Office, and other buildings, all decorated for the holiday by the Red Hill Garden Club. Complimentary hot mulled cider, Brunswick stew prepared by the Charlotte Lions Club and cookies will be available throughout the afternoon. The gift shop will be offering a 10% discount on its regular shop merchandise on this special day. The Museum Shop has several new items that are perfect for gift-giving, including the newly introduced Red Hill Wine collection.


The annual sale of boxwood wreaths and boxwood kissing balls, with proceeds benefiting the Patrick Henry Auxiliary, is currently underway. Reserved wreaths and kissing balls are available beginning November 30th and will be available at the Christmas Open House as supplies last. These wreaths cost only $25 each and kissing balls $10 each and both are handmade using locally grown boxwood. Call (376-2044) to reserve your wreath or kissing ball today as only a limited supply is available.
